Research, Development and Innovation at Snoop Consulting

Research, Development and Innovation (R&D&i) at Snoop Consulting aims at developing ideas and products that can add value to the company´s portfolio, simplify or accelerate software development, and explore new technologies that can help Snoop in keeping a competitive advantage.
Our areas of expertise include applied machine learning, text and data mining, information extraction, user interfaces and software engineering.
 
Some of our past R&D projects are:
  • Stack Finder: A high-precision Java stack trace finder on the web, that is parse and match stack traces inside web pages, while at the same time excludes accidental stack traces resulting from failing web applications. It allows to harness the collective wisdowm in forums and web pages to find solutions to java errors. Demo at http://stackfinder.snoopconsulting.com
  • Facts & Authorities: A R&D project that developed automated techniques to identify important themes and experts in online discussions, to be able to augment the value of a company´s internal communications. Polarity detection allowed us to identify more than 80% of favorable comments to proposed solutions, helping to separate true experts from people with good intentions.   • Autotagger: An experiment in on-the-fly automatic tag discovery by tagging the Yahoo Answers results to a user query. Demo at http://labs.snoopconsulting.com/autotagger
 
We are open to collaborate with other companies and universities in projects that involve:
  • Automated bug discovery, and statistical techniques applied to QA in software development.
  • New methods, techniques and tools to identify, extract and condense important information in online forums, wikis, blogs, and instant messaging conversations, and social platforms.
  • New tools and user interfaces for effective collaborative work.
  • Innovative user interfaces
  • Applications of machine learning and information retrieval in enterprise settings.
  • Effective visualization techniques applied to discrete and noisy, non-continuous data sets (text, source code, software architecture, etc)
  • Effective software tools to model, analyze and produce software faster.
